Biography

Boozhoo Niijii bimadizi (hello my fellow human beings), Robert Budreau indizhinizaaz (my name), Mukwa indoodem (bear clan).  I am the new Business Instructor at Leech Lake Tribal College. I am a proud enrolled member of the Fond Du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and a direct descendant of Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe.

I am a proud alum of Leech Lake Tribal College (2009) (2010). The college has always felt like home away from home. I furthered my education at Bemidji State University. I graduated with a Business Administration, B.S. degree with dual emphasis in management and entrepreneurship (2012). I then went onto graduate school and graduated with a master’s degree in Tribal Administration and Governance (M.T.A.G.) at University of Minnesota Duluth (2016).

I previously, worked for Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe for over fourteen years. During my time, my work ethic, dedication, and combination of formal education and experience helped me to advance and grow in the organization. I have extensive experience in management at various levels. I also have extensive experience being on boards of all different varieties. A few projects that I was a part of and I am proud to say we as a team accomplished are: Cedar Lakes Casino New Build Project, Wellness Center Planning and Architect drawings, and finding solutions to help Band members succeed.

On a personal note, I love to spend time with my family the most. Some other interests are: life learning, spiritual gatherings, being outdoors, attending community events, watching sports, I am a passionate CLB Panther fan, and an avid Minnesota Vikings fan, golfing, supporting others, giving back to the community, and mentoring.

To show excellence means to strive to do your absolute best, but you also allow yourself to accept failure and mistakes as you learn from them. These lessons in life, I like to call “lessons learned”.
