Deet Stipends

Development of Enhanced Education and Training

Are you a recent Tribal College graduate pursuing your 4-year degree in a major related to Food Sovereignty, Land and Water Conservation, or Community Health? Staying involved with Leech Lake Tribal College’s DEET program can help support your academic journey.  For TCU Graduates, DEET aims to:

  • Support baccalaureate students with academic and financial assistance
  • Connect TCU Grads with current LLTC students
  • Provide professional development and networking opportunities
  • Increase student interest in Indigenous Science and related careers through community outreach, career counseling, direct recruiting, and professional development.

The DEET Stipends are competitively awarded and can provide up to $500 per month.  An eligible baccalaureate student can apply for up to $10,000 of support through their bachelor’s program.

Eligibility:

  • Enrolled full time in a 4-year related degree program
  • Demonstrated capacity to represent LLTC
  • In good academic standing
  • Not currently a full-time LLTC employee

By applying for the DEET Stipend, you are agreeing to the following:

  • Attend 4 DEET events per academic year as part of your scholarship requirements
  • Remain in good academic standing. You must show progress each semester with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above
  • Provide information on your academic status and progress, as needed and required
  • Check in with the DEET Coordinator monthly regarding your education and career goals

Include an essay (2 pages) that describes:

  1. Personal introduction (who you are and what you are passionate about)
  2. Reason you are interested in the DEET program (regarding food, conversation, and/or community)
  3. Professional goals after you earn your degree
