Deet Scholarships
Development of Enhanced Education and Training
Are you interested in Food Sovereignty, Land and Water Conservation, or Community Health? The DEET Partnership between Leech Lake Tribal College and the Fond de Lac Tribal and Community College (FDLTCC) will empower student interest, access, and success in future careers. The DEET program at LLTC aims to
- Support students with academic and financial assistance with access to mentoring, peer-to-peer learning and scholarships
- Provide experiential learning opportunities for youth, college students, and community to explore Indigenous Science and related disciplines through field trips, research projects, and internships and camps.
- Increase student interest in Indigenous Science and related careers through community outreach, career counseling, direct recruiting, and professional development.
The DEET Scholarships support students pursuing any degree path at LLTC and can provide up to $2500 per semester. An eligible student can apply for up to $10,000 of support.
Eligibility:
- Enrolled for at least six credits
- Demonstrated capacity to represent LLTC
- In good academic standing
- Not a full-time LLTC employee
By applying for the DEET Scholarship, you are agreeing to the following:
- Attend 3 DEET events per semester as part of scholarship requirements.
- Remain in good standing in classes as Leech Lake Tribal College. You must show progress and improvement each semester with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above.
- Pass 75% of your classses.
- Provide information on your academic status and progress, as needed, and required with this application.
- Meet with the DEET Coordinator every other week regarding your education and career goals.
- If receiving a failing grade at mid-term, students will develop a support plan and work will work with DEET Coordinator on a plan for academic success.
