Course Description
This course explores the relationships between majority and minority populations. This course provides a sociological perspective centered on ethnicity, race, groups, culture, and identity. The course emphasizes the nature of prejudice and racism, similarities and differences of peoples and cultures, policies affecting minorities, the social construction of race, genocide, systemic racism, inequalities, and immigration to the United States. Current issues in U.S. race/ethnic relations also are examined.
