Program Description
Our Early Childhood Education Indigenous Certificate at Leech Lake Tribal College combines a foundation of principles of child development with Indigenous focused coursework creating a pathway for students to prepare students to provide Anishinaabe culturally informed care that will be beneficial for all children and families. This certificate serves as a licensing credential for employment in early childhood settings, much like a Child Development Associate. Students completing the Indigenous Early Childhood Credential will be prepared with early childhood foundational courses, Ojibwe language and courses supporting Anishinaabe worldview and values. Our program provides each student with an opportunity to customize their educational background to fit their current needs and to further their education to an Advanced Indigenous Early Childhood Certificate or an Associate in Arts Degree.
Students completing the certificate program will have an opportunity to continue their course work at LLTC towards an Advanced Indigenous Early Childhood Certificate or an Associate in Arts Degree.
