International Stone Carving Symposium in St. Paul

Tribal College Art Instructor, Duane (Dewey) Goodwin, is participating in an international Stone Carving Symposium in St. Paul. The Symposium is being held on the campus of Saint Paul College May 22 through June 30. Dewey is one of 14 sculptors from around the world participating in the event. Artists from Japan, Germany, China, Mexico, Zimbabwe, Egypt, Finland, Italy, and Minnesota share their unique creative perspectives and cultural traditions as they carve their sculptures from some of Minnesota's oldest and most valuable stone known as "Rainbow Granite". The resulting artworks will be permanently installed in public places in Saint Anthony, Vadnais Heights, and throughout Saint Paul.
Check out the Minnesota Rocks web site for more information and photos of the event.
